Any complete preflight weather briefing should always include a review of the weather over the last six or more hours. How the weather has evolved in the recent past will often tell the story of what weather is safe to challenge and what weather should be strictly avoided. Part of the challenge is that many online resources including the Aviation Digital Data Service (ADDS) provides little in the way of historical weather data making it very difficult to ascertain what has occurred in the recent past. In this workshop, we'll discuss how to leverage historical data to determine if an area of weather should be avoided or is safe to navigate.
